Ten years of Derby Day in Boston
The Kentucky Derby is run on the first Saturday in May, and for SCHDOR Entertainment that’s the biggest party of the year. Boston shows up dressed for the occasion: ladies in statement hats and fascinators, gentlemen in pastel and seersucker suits with bow ties and boaters, everybody ready for photos, music and a good time.
In 2027 the Kentucky Derby Day Party turns 10. It’s a celebration of the people who have made it a Boston tradition, and the best reason to break out your biggest hat.
A party that gives back
A portion of the proceeds from the Kentucky Derby Day Party goes toward helping low-income college freshmen with dorm essentials. It’s hosted by Boston nightlife promoter Bigbossman Snizz, who has been promoting events since 2007.
What to wear to the Derby party
- Hats and fascinators. The bigger and bolder, the better. Feathers, flowers, veils and bright colors all belong here.
- Spring colors. Pinks, yellows, mint, sky blue, florals and crisp whites.
- For the fellas. Seersucker, linen or pastel suits, bow ties, pocket squares, boaters, fedoras and loafers.
- Finishing touches. Pearls, gloves, sunglasses and a confident walk for the photo backdrop.
